100 WC

Once upon a time, there was a penguin, who lived in the north pole with his best friend, Snow. Together they went fishing all day long in the icy cold water. One day when they were fishing they came across a strange-looking fish, it sat there motionless as if it was frozen. The polar bear named Snow became very excited when he saw the strange-looking fish. He wanted to eat it straight away. So he gobbled it up. Little did he know it was a piece of rubber. A few days later, he was covered in striped fur.

  1. Hello! I love that your story was about a penguin. I live in Melbourne and all last week we were able to watch (live on TV) fairy penguins coming home after collecting food. They were so cute. I think your story is really good in showing the curiosity of animals and the danger this can bring (the bear eating the rubber). Even though you didn’t make the story have a dreadful ending I thinking the message was clear. You used the challenge words really well. Super writing.

  2. Hello Benya,
Firstly, highlighting the five prompt words using bold made them very easy to see how well they were used in your 100 words. Your story was interesting because of the encounter with a strange-looking fish and the result for a polar bear. Well done!

Being interested in animals, I wondered how penguins might have made it so far north because they tend to live down south. Polar bears might find a penguin more tempting than a fish. Maybe that’s why penguins are down near us and not up north. What do you think?
